:)

LoveKnots answers:

The first or the second. I don’t like the knot the third features. Not to mention, the hearts say so much more.

Does your girlfriend prefer simpler jewellery, or a little ornamentation? If she likes simple and elegant stuff better, go for the first. If she likes a bit of eye-catching ornamentation, go for the second. Though I’m sure she’ll love whichever bracelet you choose, in the end. They’re all of them beautiful. :)

Nancy asks…

Should I drop a hint for my bf to propose?

I found a silver wedding style band ring on sale for $10. I found this ring by following my friends link on facebook. She had bought a heart shaped ring with a stone that is suppose to vibrate love if you believe in psychics.(I saw this as a sign) So I followed the link and did a little window shopping at all the sales and found the ring. Should I leave the ring page up on his browser as a hint? My bf and I have been together for 2 years and have happily lived in the same room for a year and eight months. He and I have talked a lot about marriage and he’s told me that he would like to marry me one day when we move out of his parents house and what not but we’ve been together for two years. From half of what I’ve heard/read/seen says that if he hasn’t proposed to me yet that he probably never will and the other half says to wait no more then five years but I know of a couple that got married after ten. What should I do?

LoveKnots answers:

I wouldn’t expect a guy to even notice that you had left a jewelry page open on your computer – let alone jump to the conclusion that you want him to propose to you just because you were looking at a $10 ring. But even if he were to notice, I don’t believe in “dropping hints” when it comes to an issue as serious as engagement anyway.

As for what people are going to say about how long you should be engaged, there will be those who say you ALWAYS need to leave someone if they’re not ready to be engaged after two years. Then you will have those people who say you ALWAYS need to date someone AT LEAST two years before you even consider marriage. What I find to be a problem is that a person who feels the first way could be dating a person who feels the second way. They could be absolutely perfect for each other in every other regard. They could have gone on to have a lifetime of happiness together. But just because of that one differing belief system, the whole relationship would end up sabotaged.

Truth is, there is a whole range of beliefs on how long you should date before getting engaged. Everything from it’s okay to get engaged after a week to people who want to wait until they have been together ten years and have children before tying the knot. The only thing that matters is how long you and your partner believe you should wait before you get engaged. (Not that you shouldn’t take other people’s opinions into consideration when picking a time frame, but you shouldn’t assume your partner feels the same way as anybody else.)

The best thing to do is to talk to your partner about their opinions on the matter. You can try to guess what your partner thinks is the right time frame. I think it tends to be cultural, so he’s likely to wait as long as his friends and family are waiting. If his parents, siblings, or close friends have been divorced, he’ll be more likely to wait. The more years of education he has, the older he’ll probably want to be before he wants to get married. But really the only sure fire way to know his opinion on the matter is to just ask.

Now I know a lot of women are scared to say anything because they’re afraid of pressuring the guy. It’s only pressuring him if you make him feel like he has to say what you want to hear. If you make it clear you’re just looking for his honest opinion, then how is that putting any pressure on him?

The most important thing is that you can have an open and honest conversation with each other on the matter. If you can be honest about wanting to be engaged soon, then you don’t have to be disappointed when he hasn’t picked up on your hints. If you can listen non-judgmentally about why he wants to wait, you may find that you don’t have to take it personally. And sometimes you may find out things that disappoint you, or even cause the relationship to break up. But at least then you know where things stand. If you trust somebody enough to marry them, then you should be able to trust them to be honest with you on this matter.

I’ll also point out that if you’re living in his parent’s house, that’s another big reason why he may want to wait. I think even a lot of people who would generally expect an engagement after two years would think you should wait longer under those circumstances. You don’t say how old you are, but I’m guessing you’re still under 25. Even if you’re older, you probably still have areas in your life that you need to advance.

I hope it goes well.

Richard asks…

Oh my… what to do?

My boyfriend is going to propose to me soon. A couple months ago he asked my ring size and walked me into a jewelry store to look at rings. He said he was “on a hunt” and was open for suggestions. I tried my hardest to show him what kind of ring I want… I sent him links to websites and cut out magazine ads. I just found out through an annonymous source that his mother helped him pick out a ring for me, and she has HORRIBLE taste! Apparently the center stone is a cheap, low-quality diamond and it’s everything opposite of what I hoped for. My stomach is in a knot… I don’t know what to do. Somebody help???

LoveKnots answers:

Well, I’m gonna be on my own out here I guess, but why on earth did your bf bother to go ‘on a hunt’ and be ‘open for suggestions’ and then ignore all your hints and suggestions and pick a ring without you being there?

Of course an engagement ring is not the be all and end all of a relationship, but it’s a big ticket, expensive item and him going out of his way to ignore your stated wishes to choose something you dislike is NOT a good sign, imo.

The fact is, when you are married WHO is going to make the big decisions about finances? Both of you, or just him after ignoring what you say?

Maybe I’ve got this all wrong, but after reading what you’ve written I am inclined to think that maybe you should say to him “How is the ring hunt going, dear, shall we pick one from your selection on Saturday”, and see what he says. The engagement ring is a symbol of his desires and hopes for your future together, and if what he hopes is that you’ll be satisfied with being ignored while he spends his money foolishly, it would be good to find that out *before* the wedding.

And no, I’m NOT saying you should be materialistic about love. I’m saying you should be sensible about money and spend it wisely. My husband asked me to accompany him to buy my engagement ring, and I shared major financial decisions with him, just as true partners should do.

Hmmm, I might be feeling a bit grouchy today, lol. Oh well … You asked! Cheers :-)

Helen asks…

I have a few engagement question!?

I have decided I want to ask my girlfriend to marry me in April next year when we are on holiday. I want to do it right and make sure its done correctly. I have a few questions for you to answer.

How much do I spend on a ring? I have read that its roughly a month to two months wages.

I want to ask her Mums blessing so how long before I ask my girlfriend to marry me should I ask for this? How should I go about asking her? Should I show her mum the ring etc?
I get on really well with her family and I know that they will love me to ask her to marry me.

If you think I have missed anything then feel free to add.

Thanks guys

LoveKnots answers:

To be honest ask her parents for ideas. Get her parents to help you get ideas for a ring. If you get her parents involved they can help make it special for her too. My fiancee proposed to me on Christmas eve last year while we were walking around looking at Christmas lights. The ring is a love knot. Its gorgeous. I didn’t ask how much it cost. I told him a long time ago money, expensive jewelry is not important to me. Its the thought that counts and i would still love him even if it came out of a cracker jack box. Pick a ring for her that fits her personality and one that you know without a doubt she will love.

LoveKnots answers:

Make her something homemade

Make a laminated bookmark: find pictures or photos that she would like – animals, sports, flowers, hearts, cars, pictures of family or you two – it can be a few small pics or just one, glue it to construction paper, make sure you know how wide you want it to be before you start with the glue, then take it to Staples/Office Max, Office Depot or a store like that and get it laminated, then cut it. After hole-punch the top and put a ribbon or twine of some kind through the hole and tie it in a knot.

Make a ‘love jar’ and fill it with origami hearts, flowers and slips of paper with notes of appreciation written on them or ‘I love you’ written in different languages (on the back write which language it is).

Jenny asks…

Christmas gift ideas for family/close friends? PLEASE PLEASE 10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER!!?

I know it’s a little early, but I like early. So I am only 14, and I don’t have a job or a lot of money or anything ($500 TOTAL). I need to get gifts for some family and close friends. Here is some insight on each person:
My mom: The most amazing person in my life. However, she is very sentimental person, so she doesn’t want anything big or expensive. Everyone loves her, so she gets a lot of jewelry, so that’s not really special. I am not really artistic, so I couldn’t really draw anything. She really doesn’t know too much about electronics, and she has an iPad, iPod, nice phone, etc. so i don’t really thing electronics. She means the world to me, and I want her to have something she will like.

Next is my sister. She is 10, (11 at Christmas) and most of the time she is a total brat. Like TOTAL. However, I wouldn’t want her to feel like I don’t care, so I want to get her something. She likes dolls, but she has a lot. She has WAAYY too many stuffed animals, and doesn’t wear jewelry or makeup. I don’t know about clothes, that would be a possibility, but I know that at that age it was a disappointment to get clothes for christmas haha.

My aunts. One is sentimental, one is materialistic. The sentimental one likes sailing, but has many many electronics. the other one is big on makeup and stuff but usually returns whatever she gets.

My cousins. I have two twin boy cousins (age 3) who like disney stuff. They also have leapsters, so maybe a game? Another is a boy, who is 10 (11 at christmas). Only problem with him is that he has everything a kid would want! (macbook pro, iphone, ipod touch, flat screen tv, and much more.) He likes sailing also, so i don’t know what I should get him. My last cousin is a 6 year old girl who lives like a princess. She loooovvvveeesss the disney princesses. She has all the dresses, dolls, etc.

So that’s my family! (I already have gifts for my uncles) I know it’s long, but I REALLY need some gift ideas. I DON’T LIKE TO GIVE GIFT CARDS OR CASH, I THINK IT’S INDIRECT AND UNTHOUGHTFUL. So thank you thank you thank you for reading, I hope that you will help me haha :)

Sandy asks…

How to deal with this terrible situation.?

hi, I’m from India. This is about my friend… she had an arranged marriage last June. She is 27 now. After about 3 weeks after marriage, she and her husband had set out for a fun trip. They met with a road accident (they hit the car on the bridge). He is crippled from the accident and she is back to normal. He cant control his stool and urine and cant have children post accident.
The thing now is her parents don’t want her to go back to his house. His parents are holding all the marriage jewellery and asking them to send her as she is his wife and she needs to take care of him.
My friend keeps talking to him over the phone and says she and her hubbie have an understanding but her parents are not letting them live. We all feel she doesn’t understand the reality yet. There is a high chance of his relatives, friends, parents deserting her if she goes over there to live with him. She has to support him in every way. And there is a sure chance of him emotionally blackmailing her and showing off his frustrations at her, doubting her etc.
What should she decide? Please help
Hi again, please don think this is a story. It is a real unfortunate incident. We all feel really terrible looking at her. But donno how to help her get thru. Would appreciate any guidance. Thanks

LoveKnots answers:

Marriage is not a silly matter first of all. A lot of meaning for that knot. Its a matter of mutual understanding, believe each other, support each other, love each other … For ever.
So its her responsibility to be with her husband in every situations and he also. But her parents only thinking about her future like every parents from their side this is the only way.
In such a situation importance is “what she like to do”.

David asks…

What is an appropriate ring to get my girlfriend for her 17th birthday? Please help.?

Well I love my girlfriend of 2 years very much and she is turning 17 this weekend. Last year for her 16th birthday she wanted a nice kindof coming of age ring, nice, classy, kinda rustic, you know the kind of ring a mother would get her daughter for her 16th birthday. Well she didn’t get one unfortunately and she didn’t buy a class ring cause she isn’t into them. Well I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she said a nice ring is the only thing. She really wants me to get this right and pick out one she’ll love. Now I’m not trying to do way too much you know like not a proposal or nothing along the lines you know. I want it to be just something nice she can remember her high school sweetheart by, if we last or not, you know. And like she gets that and isn’t wanting nothing like too serious either, just something sentimental and nice and she can wear it every once in a while even when we break up you know. just something to admire in her jewelry box when were older, together or not. I’m also not trying to spend a fortune cause that’s weird too, but I’m flexible on price if it’s worth it. Where can i find something that will knock her socks off. Preferably in store so I can see it, and not really a promise ring, just a nice ring with a purpose, you know. I’m in the east bay, ca if that helps. idrk what kind of rings there are so if you could specify it to a type that would help too. thanks you guys. wish me luck =)
well i can go to $200 like $ isn’t not the problem I just want it to be worth it you know? Her birth stone is Garnet which is pretty ugly. I feel like a nicer version of this kinda stuff is cool. Kinda cheap/ dingy looking but still pretty cool. Just want a nicer version of it, you know..feedback? and idk her size wtf? haha?

LoveKnots answers:

Picking a ring isn’t too hard, as I’m sure your girlfriend will like anything you get for her. You know her style and personality best, but I will give my opinion on what (in general) girls like.

I suggest starting with her birthstone. If the stone for her birth month is a colour she likes, then try to find something with that stone, that gives it an extra meaning behind it. Otherwise, another coloured gemstone ring will also be nice. If she’s really into blue for example, a ring with a sapphire, aquamarine or turquoise stone might be the way to go.

As for the setting, I would suggest either gold or silver depending on what your girlfriend likes. You can most likely tell from the jewellery she already wears. Most girls prefer silver or white gold to yellow gold. Avoid anything that says ‘silvertone’ or ‘goldtone’ because those rings are made from metals that will usually turn your skin green after a few wears.

If she’s not into gemstones, then maybe something loopy or knotted would be a nice alternative. Flowers, butterflies and hearts are also fairly safe bets.

Price-wise, the cost of a ring really depends on your budget. For under $100, you can usually get a very nice ring.

Maria asks…

How to improve myself over the summer?

Hey guys! My summer just started and I want to completely change myself over the summer, and when the summers end I want to look prettier and I want it to like, have a drastic change on me. Can you please give me some ideas on how I can improve myself!

SKIN- my skin is pretty much normal, not dry or oily, but its patchy and extremely tanned :( I want the tan to go away and my skin to give out a gloww.
EYES- I have really dark, dark circles!(and its not genetic, started getting them about years ago) Is there any effective way to remove them asap? And my eyebrows are reallyyyy light, is there any way to darken them? and something natural that can make my lashes grow longer and thicker as they are hardly visible!
LIPS- My lips are becoming really puffy now, although they weren’t before. and the weirdest thing is that the top part of my lip is more brownish and my lower lip is quite pink. so yeah it looks pretty weird.
HAIR- I had straight hair but since I cut it in layers, its starting to get wavy, any idea on how I can make it straight again without using straighter? And my hair is jet black but its realllyyy thin and I have a lot of hair fall. how can I make my hair thick and reduce hairfall preferably using natural things, not hair products.
WEIGHT- I want to GAIN a few extra pounds. Im only 72 pounds and Im 13 years old. Every one says I look way too skinny! I wanna be atleast 80-85 pounds! Is there any specific thing I should eat, something that actually tastes good and not something I feel like pukingg?

WOW THATS ALOT. But please reply soon with something helpful. and yeas, please don’t say I should have more self-confident and all, everyone in my school are drop-dead gorgeous and I feel like a loser. I do have a lot of self-confidence but beauty does infact increase it! THANKS A LOT!

Here are 15 Quick Fashion tips:

1. Fit is King – The most dramatic improvement you can make in your style is to make sure everything fits impeccably. Most guys wear clothes that are too large. Make sure everything you wear is almost hugging the shape of your body – without being tight. Bad fit is an epidemic, cure yourself.

2. Keep it simple – You want a wardrobe that looks great on you, but don’t overdo it. Don’t wear more than three pieces of jewelry or more than three colors. Don’t dress like a rock star unless you’re in a band. If you want to be flashy, a simpler but stylish look would be sporting a black striped dress shirt with a white blazer, a dark pair of jeans, a dressy belt, and your sharpest dress shoes. You could also add a flashy watch or a simple accessory like an interesting necklace, but nothing more.

3. Change the way you see casual – casual doesn’t have to be boring. Have fun with collared shirts, or take some inspiration from those who approach casual a bit differently.

4. Pay attention to your supporting pieces – Some sweaters are lean and others are big and chunky. The first rule of thumb is that your top and bottom halves need to match. If you’re wearing a big, chunky, rugged fisherman knit sweater, your bottom needs to be rugged, too. Don’t wear a fisherman’s sweater with a beautiful silk-and-wool suit pant. Instead, wear it with something as casual as cargos or jeans, or dress it up with a Harris tweed blazer.

5. Never go shopping alone – Most of the time, it’s tough to trust the sales people because they usually work for commission. Shop with a friend who will give you their honest opinion. Also, read about shopping on a budget.

6. Stay a notch above – Don’t overdo it to a fault, but dare to take some risks. It’s always better to be a little bit overdressed than underdressed in any setting. All you have to do is think about where and who you’re going to be with and just step it up one notch. But make sure you’re not better dressed than someone who is more important in a certain setting, like your boss.

7. Never underestimate the power of details – The last thing on is usually the first thing noticed. So mind the details instead of throwing together the main parts of your outfit. “Details” can include a scarf, a subtle pocket square, or the way you tie your tie knot.

8. Invest in a superb pair of shoes – If it’s one thing that women will notice, it’s your shoes. Especially how clean and sharp they look. It’s easy to wash and press the rest of your clothes to keep them looking new, but most guys disregard their shoes. Show that you’re a man of taste by getting a great pair of shoes and keeping them in pristine condition.

9. Fashion Tees with logos – When you’re going around with a big logo on your shirt, you risk looking like a walking billboard. Lose the lame Coca-Cola shirt and go for a classic v-neck tee or something artsy (check out threadless.com).

10. Disregard trends – Beware of buying something just because it’s “in” right now – stick to what you truly like. A lot of people rush to get in on the latest trend and end up with a bunch of clothes they don’t wear. It’s better to learn to build a versatile and timeless wardrobe first – then bring in your own twists with some of the new fashion. This one tip will save you so much money!

11. Don’t be a sucker for brand names – Don’t be a Patrick Bateman. Before you decide to purchase an item, ask yourself if you are buying it simply because of the brand name or because you love the quality and style. Ask yourself, “Would I buy this if there was no logo on it?”

12. Continually cultivate your image – Invest more time and money into your image. Cultivate your fashion sense. Your style is a huge mode of communication, and is worth caring for as much as your education, career, and relationships. Oscar Schoffler, longtime fashion editor of Esquire once said, “Never underestimate the power of what you wear. After all, there’s just a small bit of yourself sticking out at the collar and cuff. The rest of the world sees what you drape on your frame.”

13. Ask for real feedback – Most of your friends and family aren’t going to go out of their way to tell you what looks bad. You have to ask for it. In fact, ask anyone and everyone you trust to tell you the truth. Ask your hairstylist, ask your best friend, ask your mother! If you think they might be too nice, send me an e-mail (jae@kinowear.com), I have no problem giving out real feedback.

NOTE: My answer was too long. #14 and #15 are at the source below.

Love Knot Diamond Ring

Sandra asks…

How much is a guy suppose to spend on an engagement ring?

I know they say its like 5 months salary right or something?

LoveKnots answers:

The amount shouldn’t really be your primary concern. Not to say its not important to consider but I think you should consider other factors.

What kind of ring does your girl want?

Does she want a diamond? Something different like a sapphire or amethyst? Does she want a traditional solitaire or a three-stone ring or something flashier? Or would she like something really out of the ordinary like a celtic knot band or claddagh ring? Or would she appreciate a family heirloom, her mother or grandmother’s ring, or a ring from your family?

Then decide how much you can afford to spend. Can you afford to spend $10,000 or only $1,000? Why dump 5 months worth of work on one ring when you still have a wedding, wedding rings and honeymoon to pay for?

If she loves you and wants to marry you, she’ll love whatever ring you get her.

Good luck!!

Mark asks…

Is Zales is good company to order a promise ring from?

http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2088102&kpc=1 this is the ring i want to get but I don’t if order it online because it’s online buy only :/ please help

LoveKnots answers:

I bought a engagement ring from Zales that was nice and affordable.

Some advice for you is that your ring is nice and all but most women under 70 don’t like yellow gold. White gold is more popular. For a promise ring I wouldn’t buy gold, I’d buy silver. A promise ring is just a promise ring and shouldn’t cost a whole lot. I got a love knot ring from Walmart with silver and diamonds from walmart for $60 for my g/f as a promise ring and she loved it.

For a promise ring the ring you posted is too expensive. A promise ring shouldn’t be over $100. Save your cash for an engagement ring someday.

Sharon asks…

Ultimate present for the birth of a baby (aka “push present” or “baby bauble”)?

Q: Hi, we are expecting our baby in about a month and I am looking for a
baby birth present to give my wife upon the delivery. I heard some call it push present
but I really don’t like this term, other call it a Baby Bauble which sounds much better.
Any ideas? Thanks Mike B.

LoveKnots answers:

Mike, Great question and great observation, I don’t like the term push present at all. It
sounds very degrading, other names that I heard relating to a baby birth gift are
“push gift” and “baby mama gift”, which to me don’t sound better at all especially in the
context of the mystical event of baby birth.
In my mind you want a gift that is eternal and meaningful. You want something that is a
bauble (i.e. Piece of a sparkly jewelry) and nothing says “forever” like gold and diamonds.
Nothing says forever like the infinity sign and all of it in one is the Infinity Rings that are so
fashionable these days. I found the ultimate Infinity Ring (https://www.etsy.com/listing/88653176/infinity-knot-diamond-ring-the-original?ref=pr_shop)
design on Esty, by a young unknown brand called Silly Shiny. These are so pretty and
they symbolize the eternal bond between you and the mother-to-be that comes with the
miracle of a new life. They also have a matching Infinity Necklace (https://www.etsy.com/listing/88651122/infinity-knot-diamond-necklace-14k-gold)
And one more idea is the eternal love chain and pendent they have. If you look
closely you will see four hearts combined in this amazing piece of Endless Love Pendent
(https://www.etsy.com/listing/103561572/endless-love-diamond-necklace-14k-gold)
All of these are competitively priced and they have 100% positive feedback with very
warm comments about service, reliability and speed.

Donald asks…

What is the value of these gemstones/rings?

This is not my profile but I have permission to post this question:

I want to get my girlfriend an engagement ring, but she ordered me not to buy anything over 500 dollars or else she wouldn’t wear it because we should save our money. She hates gold (except white gold) and loves silver so it must be silver. She also loves celtic knot rings, but likes the other ones too. She says diamonds, rubies and sapphires are too expensive so she wants a ring that’s made from either alexandrite, amethyst, red tourmaline or tanzanite. She wouldn’t like a tiny gem you can barely see but big stones are out of the question. Now, I did some research online and found out that man-made diamonds exist too and they’re much less expensive than real ones! So here are my questions:

How much would a silver man-made diamond ring cost?
How much would a silver man-made ruby ring cost?
How much would a silver man-made sapphire ring cost?
How much would a silver tanzanite ring cost?
How much would a silver red tourmaline ring cost?
How much would a silver amethyst ring cost?
How much would a silver alexandrite ring cost?
Does it make a difference in the cost if the ring is simple or celtic knot?
Does the cut of the diamond make a difference in the cost? (my girlfriend’s favorites are opal, pear and heart cuts, though she also likes round, asscher, marquise and emerald cuts. She doesn’t like princess, radiant and cushion.)

LoveKnots answers:

Do you know how Storage Wars guys get their valuing from? The same store that sells them, or if they find the owner/designer/seller of the original product brand.

Do the same.
This is YAHOO, it’s a world wide web and many of us are not certified appraisals or work @ pawn shops, jewelry stores, flea markets, antique dealers etc. Or KNOW anything about the value of rings. Take it to one of the stores above.

Don’t buy man-made diamonds. They’re still MADE OF GLASS that looks like diamonds. There’s nothing better than the real stone. Silver is the lest expensive of all metals. They also get tarnished and needs polishing. Some cheap silver really don’t have silver in them, and if you’re not buying from a good source contains carcinogen metal that causes cancer. Many Tibetian silvers are cheap metals and have plastic gems in them, that looks like real gems, but sometimes are priced like they’re real. Buyer beware! Many cheap jewelries have been recalled by the FDA, but you need to buy them @ your local jewelry store where they’ve been in the same location for decades. You can buy good quality diamonds @ Pawn Shops, sometimes platinum diamonds or white gold that are better than silver.

Celtic love rings are perfect if there’s a touch of Irish in her! I got one, only because I love the design, but I can’t wear it, it was too small when I bought it, and I’m not even Irish. Claddaugh rings have better meanings. In Galway, there’s a monument on the topic how it all begun. Google it here. Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claddagh_ring

If you’re going to buy her a gemstone, BUY HER BIRTHSTONE ring. Marquise and emerald cuts are my favorites. But they cost a bit more!

Helen asks…

How big will this look?

My fiance has told me to start looking for an engagement ring of my choice..after a long search there is this one ring that i keep going back to its a 1/2 CT. T.W. Diamond Love Knot Ring in 14K White Gold..i want something big but not too big and i also want a ring that sparkles for under $1,000..with every new ring i see, i keep coming back to this one…does anyone know how big this would look on my finger?..or if you or someone you know have this ring what are your thoughts on it..thnx

http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3714658

RING IS NOT IN STORE..ALREADY BEEN THERE AND THEY DIRECTED ME BCK TO THE ZALES WEBSITE

i will b a size 6

LoveKnots answers:

It’s going to look pretty big because it’s a “chunky” style. It’s a pretty ring but honestly it looks more like a fashion ring. It doesn’t really look like an engagement ring. So, if you do get it be prepared for people not realizing it’s an engagement ring. Also, there’s no way to put an actual wedding band with it.

Kay Jewelers has a previously owned site where you can get stuff a lot cheaper. My engagement ring was 1500 in stores, I got it for 600. All items are just as perfect as the ones in the stores and come with the same warranties.

Celtic Love Knots Tattoos

Mandy asks…

Tattoo representing me and my 2 sisters?

So I want to get a tattoo that represents me and my two sisters. I want it to be on my left side right below my heart. I am having trouble coming up with ideas. what could i get the represents the bond i have between my two sisters?

I was thinking 3 butterflies (although i hear some people think butterflies are trashy)
…or I was thinking about the quote “I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart” from an ee cummings poem

any other suggestions??

LoveKnots answers:

You could choose a design that is ‘clear’ in the middle so you can have your names put in them…and have the three linked together …. If you had it done in an upward arch I think it would work … I love celtic knot designs, so if it were me, I’d choose some kind of celtic circles. :)

Steven asks…

I’m looking for a symbol for protection from battle to get tattooed for my brother leaving for iraq.?

preferably would like an ancient symbol of some sort.

LoveKnots answers:

A pentegram with crescent moon intertwined…contrary to popular belief..it IS NOT a evil symbol or blah blah blah…thats a load of crap! It is actually a pre christian(pagan if u want to say it that way as anything non-christian is apparently pagan) symbol for protection!! Ive seen them tattooted with the points of the star in celtic style knots or interlace… Looks great!!!
Or in ancient egyptian art…wings with a sun disc in the middle with two cobras kinda poking out above the sun disc….the wings symbolise isis who is godess of love…the sun disc can be seen to represent horus etc and the cobras are a symbol of protection!!
Or for battle the celts used to tattoo themselves with blue ink..often with symbols for a stag to evoke strenght in battle and the stag is often seen as a symbol of protection!
Do some research and see what designs you like!
Good luck..to you and your brother.

Celtic Love Knot Bracelet

Ruth asks…

guys do u think tattoos look good on girls?

do u guys think girls look hot with a tattoo?

LoveKnots answers:

They certainly can, but be careful.
Do not get a lower-back tattoo. They are overdone, and people tend to think of them as trashy.

Don’t get too much or too big. Small and discrete is cute.

Over all, it should be an extention of your personality and a reflection of your self. Don’t get just anything. Think about it and make sure it is something you will be glad to have as a permanent part of yourself.
A tattoo can be beautiful if it shows the truth of your personality, not just a fly-by-night cookie-cutter design you got just to get one

As a suggestion, think about wrist tattoos. My sister has one on the inside of each wrist, my mothers name in an attractive, connected cursive. She loves them and gets comments on them all the time.
Wrist tattoos are painful, but they can be shown off or hidden as needed, and they form kind of a permanent bracelet. Flowers, words, or celtic knot designs are good ones.

Good luck with you’re decision, and I hope I helped

Richard asks…

Wrist Tattoos?

I was thinking about a celtic love knot, what do you think?

LoveKnots answers:

Go for it…you could always cover it up with bracelets or a watch if you needed to.

Love Knot Ring With Diamond

Sandy asks…

what can i do show a female love?

LoveKnots answers:

Dear friend,
To show love to your lady love is like to share your candy with her. Since this might b your first time, seriously their is nothing much to do. Be who u r and never pretend yourself to be someone whom u r not. Respect yourself and soon others start respecting you.

Also, be in touch with her, even on the phone,
take her to places where she loves to go, take her to movies, good restaurants and also hang out on special ocassions. Do whateverthings she likes if possible, on feb 14th next yr, buy her a ring, a diamond ring and tell her how much u luv her. It cud melt her heart and she wud cry with tears of joy.

But make sure that u proceed with causion. Dont jump in very fast. Be patient. Take your time.a woman’s heart is like an ocean. U wont know whether u float in it or drown in it. Placeyour moves carefully and slowlyand slowly she will come to u.

If i were u, i wud definitely do as mentioned above. And also make sure, u make her be HAPPY. Never hurt her feelings.

Remember, its difficult to tie knots by easy to break it.

Good luck!!!

Chris asks…

How come my boyfriend won’t buy me a ring?

My boyfriend and I our 23 years old. We both have good jobs and he owns a house so we live together. We have known each other a very long time and have so much love for one another. I moved in with him and left my parents I hardly see them since they live so far away and I have obviously made a strong commitment to him. Now the thing is we have talked about marriage and both said we do want to get married but not right away and IM NOT SAYING I WANT TO GET MARRIED RIGHT NOW. I just want a ring something maybe like a promise ring if a engagement ring is to much right now. So we have talked and he always comes up with excuses. like…. I dont know your ring size…well theres a million rings laying around the house? You can’t take one to get sized? then theres…well I don’t have enough money..so what you can’t save some..hes always buying things for himself 2 new tvs…a new computer…little things too….not to mention our monet goes into the same account not seprate accounts or anything. It just really pisses me off I never get shit from him I think the biggest thing he has ever bought me was $150 certificate to get my windows tinted. Im just so sick of it…not to mention when he was younger he bought his ex-girlfriend so much more he signed for a car for her and got her a ring from Tiffany’s. Me and him are so much more mature than people our age..we stay home a lot we don’t “party”. We don’t have a lot of friends. And I don’t want to get married ASAP I just want something on my finger…im not materialistic so why the fuck can’t he just get me something it doesn’t have to be top of the line. Maybe like a band with a few diamonds on it…zales have really pretty rings that’s in the shape of a knot. I forget what its called of the top of my head.SO with alll that said….. Am I taking it all the wrong way? What do I do? Do I buy myself a right hand ring? Im so confused. And hurt all at the same time.

LoveKnots answers:

.He’s using you.Next thing he’ll be asking you to cough up board money. Why should he buy the cow, when he gets the milk for free. You need to confront him about his sincerity

Carol asks…

Getting ready to ask the BIG question. Suggestions?

What type of jem or jewel do you think would look nice on a white-gold band? Money is not an issue but I think Diamonds are a little used up. Any ideas? Pics? Suggestions?

Furthermore, from a males perspective, would you want a plain design or a bolder one? He’s ancestrally Irish and French, so maybe a celtic knot or something like that? Is it corny?

Also, my plan to ask is to tie string the ring on a ribbon around our daughter’s ankle and let him find it that way. Is this not romantic? What are your thoughts on what would be?
Not just colors… maybe a jewel suggestion. So green as in an emerald?
Links are great too.

LoveKnots answers:

I’ve got a lot of Irish in me too and when I get married I want something with a claddagh on it. It’s symbolic for eternal love.

Here is a link: http://www.biddymurphy.com/product.php?productid=16157

The design more than the ring itself. You should look it up. Hope you and your partner have eternal happiness!

George asks…

I need the name to a UGK song.?

I dont think its just UGK on the song is a rap remake of the Luther Vandross song Never too Much

it starts off with a guy singing ” cant let nobody hold me down these hoes could never hold me”

the first verse is pimp c

LoveKnots answers:

Pimp C Comin’ Up Lyrics

Love Knots Earrings

Mandy asks…

What would you wear to a Luau?

LoveKnots answers:

You mean an actual Luau Pawty? LOL…Sun, Surf, and Sand????? With music… Jammin’on da beach??? Kinda Luau??? Sounds wondrous, to me, as I got the winter bluessssssssss….

Hmmmmmmmm.. Well first I would need some details… Like if this is to be a formal affair, or one that is more casual… Besides feasting on all the good stuff, will we have a Limbo contest? I am askin’ coz i love that kind of fun!!! Hula lessons work for me too, as do pool water fights and volleyball. Is this a paid thing (where all activities are planned) , or a come to me pawty, kinda free swing?

Okay, first I would most likely come with a bathing suit underneath, a loosely tied short sleeved stand up collar open shirt `feminine, V’d to and knotted at the waist., flowering longish skirt. In case of evening ocean breezey chills… A shawl ~ all gathered, in a huge colorful bag, wear sandals, dangling earrings… Sunglasses…and sunscreen!

What about hairstyles? I love hair, so… Hmmmmmm… Seeing that my hair, would have to withstand the limbo’s( there has to be a limbo contest ~ha) so.. Many backbends in that! LOL.. Aquatic activties like volleyball in a pool > I love, > so nothing too fancy, hair disasters NOT! So it’s casual hair, tied or clipped with some kind of shell accessory maybe a wreath made of beautiful tropical flowers…

((Birdie)) a Luau Pawty would be fun, and we could keep it innocent too?
Oh ya, I can’t wear a date, but I’d like to bring a date! :)
Love ya,
Kar

Lizzie asks…

A question for curly hair girls!?

I have curly a little below shoulder length hair and have three major problems I could reallly use some help for!

1. What can I do to stop my hair from getting so knotted? When I go to bed the next morning it’s a mess and I feel like im breaking all the hairs when I brush it when it’s wet

2. What can I do to help it grow longer!

3. What are some styles I can do to it? I’d love to learn some new things to try with my hair

LoveKnots answers:

Okay, for the whole knotted part, use moose before you go to bed. It softens everything up. You can get extensions for really cheap, or there are some special shampoo and conditioners that help your hair grow. Straighten your hair or try to fashion the curls into a bun. Make sure to wear long earrings with your outfits, curly hair looks good with them.

Carol asks…

“Gamer love” matching necklaces?

I’m looking for a couple of necklaces with some gamer/nerdy design that either match or fit together for me and my gf. Like half and half of a heart kinda thing. But something gamer-ish. She loves Pokemon and Zelda. I’ve just been looking all over the internet on eBay and etsy and those kinda websites but I haven’t found anything. x_x So if there isn’t anything like that I wouldn’t mind ideas so I can craft it myself. I’m not experienced at all in crafts though so the simplest the better. XD

LoveKnots answers:

Can you find a simple puzzle with the game or designs you two like? You can take two of the puzzle pieces that fit together and drill a hole into the top of each and run a leather cord through it, knot it on either side of the hole for hers and just one knot over the top of the puzzle piece for yours, add beads if you find some that are appropriate, and either tie the ends or find fasteners that are easy to attach and use. You can either paint a protective varnish over the puzzle pieces or leave them as they are depending on your skills and what is available where you live. The varnish will make them last longer, but might make it more difficult to fit the pieces back together. I suggest you find several pairs of pieces that fit together and keep them in reserve in case you damage the ones you are working with or need a replacement at a later date. Puzzle pieces also make cute earrings – either singly, or by gluing several together in a jumbled heap.

If you can’t find the kind of puzzle you want, you might be able to make your own by using a card or poster and cutting the pieces yourself – using other puzzle pieces as your pattern.

HELP!!! Home made mothers day gift! PLEASE!!!?

My mom is the most amazing (And the hardest to get a gift for) mom in the world. I thought mothers day was the 12 and now I’m don’t have enough time to go out and get a gift for her (Especially when gas is through the roof) . She prefers home made things. She doesn’t like jewelry and we have to many pets. I’ve all ready got her picture frames. And never wears make up. Any suggestions will help. Thanks

LoveKnots answers:

Make a laminated (or non-laminated) bookmark: find pictures of the two of you or pictures she would like out of a magazine or inspiring words- it can be a few small pics or just one. Cut the construction paper to the size you want and start gluing the pictures on, then take it to Staples/Office Max, Office Depot or a store like that and get it laminated, then cut it. After hole-punch the top and put a ribbon or twine of some kind through the hole and tie it in a knot. You can even skip laminating it.

Make a ‘love jar’ and fill it with origami hearts, flowers and slips of paper with notes of appreciation written on them or ‘I love you’ written in different languages (on the back write which language it is).

Jenny asks…

What hobbies could I take up?

I’m a fifteen year old girl. I love reading and hate most sports (bar dancing and basketball) and I need I new hobbie. I go to school, come home, spend hours on homework and watch tv until it’s time for bed. I do dancing on a Sunday, and there’s no where to play basketball in my area. I need to know what intresting hobbies I could take up.. My life feels kuna pointless if my whole world revolves around school. I don’t like most sports, so anything like that is out, and where I’m from, it almost never stops raining, so anything outside won’t do.
Thanks in advance .. :)

Ideas for bedroom makeover?

Im 16 and in desperate need of a bedroom makeover.
Please help!
I love the beach
I hate pink
I really want pics and creative things on the walls

Any ideas about colours, bedspread etc?
Thanks!

LoveKnots answers:

Try to find bedding that incorporates those earthy tones with punches of pink or lime green. For example, Pottery Barn Teen has the “Bright Blossom” set, which incorporates your brown and red tones, but also has pink and green. It looks cute, it looks girly, and it won’t clash in your room.

Now let’s be realistic. PB teen isn’t exactly cheap. So here’s an idea. Get the 2 pillowcases for $26. Then, you can easily create a personal, inexpensive and soft blanket.
Go to a local craft and fabric store such as Jo-Anns Fabric. Buy 2 large pieces of fleece- lime green and pink. Lay them on top of each other, cutting 2 inch fringe all around and then tying the two pieces together (double knot).

Girly DIY Bed canopy- Get tulle or netting (approx 5 yards), and take apart a 12 inch adjustable embroidery hoop. Take the smaller hoop and center it UNDER the fabric. Take the larger hoop and tie 4 pieces of ribbon to it, tying the four ribbons together at the top. Then, center the larger hoop OVER the fabric, pressing it down and creating a sandwich of sorts. Attach the canopy to the ceiling to have a beautiful, draping effect.
•Looks pretty much like that- but nicer ;)
Lastly, you’ll need accessories. Look for bold, bright frames, vases, figurines, jewelry stands/cases, storage boxes, etc in purple, pink, red and green.
For a little over 10$, you can buy these two frames from Target
•http://www.target.com/Work-Angles-Wood-F…
•http://www.target.com/Lattice-Cross-Fram…
To make beautiful and inexpensive vases, take old glass soda bottles, pour a small amount of paint in, and close the lid and shake! Let the paint dry, and you’ll have a colored vase, in whatever color you choose. Place fresh flowers in purple or pink for a girly, gorgeous finish.

Good luck, hope it looks great!

Go to tj maxx, or marshalls.
Some place where you can find something cute
for a relatively cheap price.
Buy a new comforter and matching pillow.
Trust me, a bed is like the center piece.
If your bed looks good,
your room will look wayy better.
If you have any left over money,
either buy some paint,
and paint the wall yourself and with your friends,
or buy some cute furniture to match the bed.
You can find original and quirky pieces at flea markets.
If you want, you can also go to goodwill.
Remember: try to get everything to match the bed.
It’s the main piece, attraction, if you will,
of the bedroom.

Ideas for walls: keep the white walls,
buy small buckets of paint,
get some friends over, and splash the walls
with the different colors of paint.
It’s a fun activity to do. :)
OR
you can buy the paint
that young parents buy
so their kids can write on the wall with crayons
and its erasable.
I think it’s called rewritable paint or something?
Then you can get some crayons,
and write on your wall anytime!
Its great for notes, calendars, stuff like that.
You can draw and stuff too!
That’s what i did for my room.

Note: you have to buy the blue tape
and a blanket to put on the floor
so you don’t get paint on it.

Good luck!

Ken asks…

what do you think about this wedding band?

well my engagement ring is a three stone princess cut. its 1 ct. the people at the jewelry store think that the bands that are slightly bent go the best with these types of rings. but to be honest i dont really like them as well as the regular “straight” bands they have to chose from at the store we have an account at. so do you think that a straight band would look ”bad” or not matched?

thanks!
one band i sorta like—–http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|530890209|15051|15051.15058.15111

another one i sorta like—–http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|80164623|15051|15051.15058.15111

youre right..it would be best to see in person…cause you cant really tell on the internet. lol thanks for your opinions..i hope the pics show up..i couldnt post a direct link cause my work computer wouldnt let me : P

LoveKnots answers:

First of all, your engagement ring is beautiful! The 3-Stone rings are a nice way to get a lot of that sparkle without spending a fortune on a single huge rock.
As far as what the people at the jewelry store told you, in the end you must love the ring because it is yours. They do bring up a point that the “curved” styles do tend to hug the ring better, but that doesn’t mean that they always do or that they necessarily look better that way. I used to work with jewelry so I got that question a lot. It all comes down to your preference. Back in the day, wedding rings and engagement rings were soldered together so they became one ring, so it would have made sense for the rings to fit kind of interlocked. People still get their rings soldered, but it’s less common.
And the two wedding band choices that you had on there are beautiful, but I prefer the 2nd one with the channel set princess cut diamonds. It’ll be a good complement with the engagement ring. The 1st one would be a little too busy in my opinion.

Oh… And randomly. I just have to mention it because it’s a pet peeve of mine. You should wear your wedding ring closest to your heart after you guys tie the knot. So it should be your band on first, then your engagement ring. I say this just because I always feel the need to, but obviously it’s your so wear it however you want to! Lol!

Charles asks…

Where do you or what is the best way to advertise to attract students who want to take wedding dance lessons?

I’m a dance instructor with a private home studio. I love working with engaged couples who want to take wedding dance lessons for their big day. I want to focus on advertising specifically to this audience. Do you have some good ideas, ways and places to reach this populace other than the wedding shows? (No wisecracks needed.)Thank you for the help!

LoveKnots answers:

Advertise in wedding magazines. Most areas have a mag called “The Knot” or something which has local adverts… Check your local jewelry store for a couple of differnt variations. Always advertise at the local bridal shows, in the bridal magazines, at jewelry stores (when possible), and at florist and dress shops.
