Love Knot Necklace

James asks…

Any ideas for cool home made gifts?

My friend’s birthday is tomorrow morning and i completely forgot a gift. I need something cute and unusual i can make at home. She’s turning 15.

LoveKnots answers:

Go to your Documents Program, Word, Works, whatever you use… Make her a card and write a poem in it. Use Landscape format so it is card-like. There’s also Wingdings, etc. To create symbols on it. I create all my birthday cards for my family, they love them and I save money…cards are so expensive now. To add to the card, try your hand at friendship bracelets in her favorite colors. Walmart even sells kits for that. Make her a necklace with some special ribbon and one special bead in the center…tie a knot on either side of the bead to keep it from sliding off. ‘Hope that helps.

Betty asks…

LoveKnots answers:

A lot of people like the instructions at ‘beadage.com’ – you’re welcome to see if they work for you.

‘Instructables’ has good instructions and lots of pictures.

There are also lots of videos on ‘youtube’, if that would work better for you.
Good luck!

Mum: Your Mum may have many different hobbies. So to make it easy, get her a gift basket. Combine some things from several hobbies/interests/needs/wants. Then put them in a basket, wrap up in coloured cellophane, and then clear cellophane. Put a big bow on it then Stick a card on it. Alternatively, you could go for something a little more personal, like, a photo frame. Go to a craft store and choose from a wooden frame and a plaster frame. Also, get some paints. Make sure it fits the photo. Then put a nice pattern and paint. Then put the photo in it.

Dad: Your Dad may have many different hobbies. So to make it easy, get her a gift basket. Combine some things from several hobbies/interests/needs/wants. Then put them in a basket, wrap up in coloured cellophane, and then clear cellophane. Put a big bow on it then Stick a card on it. Older Sister: Sisters, especially older ones, can be hard to shop for, let alone hand make gifts. You could make her a mix of her favourite songs, burn them onto a CD and then create a nice cover and give. Alternatively, you could make a photo frame and put a nice photo of the two of you. Refer to Mum/Dad for instructions and gift basket.

Younger Sister: It depends on her age. If she is a toddler maybe, make her a nice mobile for her room. If she is 6-10, you could make her a stuffed toy.

Older Brother: Unless you have a good relationship with your brother, you will have no clue. So here are some easy tips as to what to give your brother. Make a mix of his favourite songs then burn them onto a CD then create a cover and give.

Younger Brother: It depends on his age. If he is a toddler maybe, make him a nice mobile for his room. If he is 6-10, you could make him a stuffed toy.

Grandma (Mum and Dad’s side): Well if your grandma is like mine, she will love sowing. You could make your grandma’s a nice pin cushion. You cut two pieces (of different fabric) 15cm x 15cm. Then put the two good sides together and sow them leaving a gap in one side to stuff. After you sow cut the corners off and then turn the right way round. Stuff. After it is stuffed, hand sow the opening closed. Then, (this is optional) sow a button on both sides.

Grandpa (Mum and Dad’s side): Make your grandpa a nice coffee mug. Nice and easy. Buy a white mug. Paint the picture you want on it backwards on a piece of paper, then wrap around the mug and leave to dry. Alternatively, you could make him a hanky and so in his first initial in it.

Aunt: You could make your aunt a nice necklace and bracelet set. Get some nice large glass beads and put then on. To make a nice classy necklace, tie a knot where you want the center bead to stop and then thread and tie a knot where it finished. Continue this process with each side working with large beads getting smaller.

Uncle: You could make your uncle a nice bookmark if he likes reading. However, if he does not like reading you could make him a nice coffee mug. Refer to Grandpa for instructions on How to make a coffee mug.

Cousin (Boy; Older): Refer to Older Brother.

Cousin (Boy; Younger): Refer to Younger Brother.

Cousin (Girl; Older): Refer to Older Sister.

Cousin (Girl; Younger): Refer to Younger Sister.

Great Grandma (Mum and Dad’s side): Refer to Grandma (Mum and Dad’s side).

Great Grandpa (Mum and Dad’s side): Refer to Grandpa (Mum and Dad’s side)

Great Uncle (Mum and Dad’s side): Refer to Grandpa (Mum and Dad’s side)

Great Aunt (Mum and Dad’s side): Refer to Grandma (Mum and Dad’s side)

Boyfriend/Fiancé: Refer to Older Brother.

Mother-in-law: Refer to Mum.

Father-in-law: Refer to Dad.
Friends: Friends are the easiest people to shop for. They are also the easiest people to understand your problem. Your friends will be happy with a nice little bag of chocolate truffles. Refer to the following link for the recipe:

Steven asks…

I really need to know the meaning of the knot heart celtic symbol and maybe the celtic ring has well the combo?

my question may sound wierd i was given by a dear friend a celtic heart on a silver necklace and also celtic ring with knots has well i really need the meanings u see the necklace almost impossible at times to get off and the ring will just fall off that when the necklace 1st became almost inpossible to remove?.please HELP!

LoveKnots answers:

The image of the heart is a universal symbol of love. But it can also express many other feelings such as sorrow, compassion and courage. It can signify the deepest part of us – where our true feelings lie. We use expressions like “in our heart of hearts” to let others know what we really feel and believe. A Celtic Heart tattoo expresses this in a unique way.

How to make kandi braclets/necklaces?

What is the best string to use?

I basically make everything compliacted even the simplest thing XD i bet i’ll have a hard time doing this. But my boyfriend keeps making me kandi and i wanna learn how make them myself cause i love them. So can anyone give me some tips on how to do that?
Thankies :D

LoveKnots answers:

Hah hah. I totally used to make tons of these when i raved. Years ago.

You can go to any crafts store like Michaels or Jo-anns or even at the crafts section at Wal-mart. Go to their beading section and just get the standard black stretchy elastic. Should come by the roll.

For the beads, i used to use get those bags of pony beads as my “base beads.” then i’d get buttons or lettered cube beads for the extra special component. Then i’d pick either 2 or 3 colors (including white or black) and alternate the colors. When i’d get to the middle of the bracelet, i’d spell out the friend’s name or add some cool beads- sort of like a centerpiece. Then i’d just go back to the normal beads until i reached to the end of the elastic. Then you sort of double/triple knot it and there you go.

Here’s a link of the basic beads to use:

(the skull ones are pretty awesome).

Sandra asks…

Does anyone know where i can get the necklace that is in the new james bond movie?

It is the love knot necklace i believe. please help!

LoveKnots answers:

I don’t know if that is possible but here is Sophie Harley’s site http://www.sophieharley.com/casinoroyale/ She is the designer of that piece.

Mark asks…

What kind of necklace is this? (Picture)?

http://ii-prod-rw.marketlive.com/DaysJewelers/images/en_US/local/products/detail/DPCL1421.jpg

I want to look for different versions online but I don’t know the name of it, when I type love knot necklace it comes up with a different kind. Perhaps one with only 2 rings looped together?

LoveKnots answers:

I’m pretty sure that ones a variant on the eternal love knot
There’s also the infinity knot, it’s nice too; 3 looped rings
The algerian love knot which is different, but also nice
It’s really just important to remember that, no matter the style of knot some are more elaborated then others, so just because it doesn’t look quite the same, doesn’t mean it’s not the same style.
